Speedwell began twenty-five years ago, when the world was a very different place.
In the field of examination processing, work was done on bureau basis using mainframe computers, and PCs were just becoming available for common business use.
Founders Adrian Cadman and Jo Goodison, both of whom are still with the company, formed Speedwell as a company to break away from the older methods of MCQ examination processing. The company established itself as an innovation focussed, PC-based, ‘in house’ solution using OMR for clients and examination boards needing automated data capture.
The phenomenal success of the system for examination processing led to a rapid expansion of services adopted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, the Royal Medical Colleges, Medical Schools, and other professional bodies.
Wherever there is a need for workplace assessment, whether in medical education, the private sector, or in academic or professional bodies, Speedwell will continue to deliver a product that keeps our customers in control of the process, from design all the way through report analysis, all in one system.
Survey processing remains a key focus of Speedwell’s business, and we are proud to announce that our survey product ‘Keypoint’ recently won the silver award for ‘Excellence’ in Top Ten Reviews Independent 2012 survey software awards.
We are pressing forward to bring new automated solutions to other areas of assessment, such as OSCE, a system designed to measure clinical skills.
Straightforward and flexible products, excellent customer support, and a commitment to ongoing product evolution to meet changing customer needs are hallmarks of Speedwell’s corporate culture.
We understand that the world 25 years from now will be as different as it was 25 years ago, and it is our commitment to continue to be at the forefront of change and innovation for another quarter century.
